Is It Time You Gave Your Kitchen A Deep Clean?

Kitchens are used so often, that finding a time to deep clean them that’s convenient, can prove tricky. However, having a clean kitchen is really important, especially when you consider how much food is prepped, cooked and consumed in them.

The simplest way to ensure that your kitchen is deeply, hygienically clean, is to hire a cleaning company who can get the job done expertly, at a time that’s convenient for you. This could be while you’re at work, while you’re taking the kids to school, or even when you’re working from home; they will come and carry out their work whenever it suits you. If you prefer to be at home while they work, that’s perfectly alright, or you can simply let them in, and shoot off on a busy day of errands, go to work, or simply enjoy some outdoor air, content in the knowledge that when you return, your kitchen will be sparkling clean.

But, if you prefer to keep your kitchen clean yourself, there are a few things you can do to simplify the task, and get it finished in half the time; depending of course, on how grubby and cluttered your kitchen is!

Begin by decluttering

No deep cleaning can begin without first decluttering the space you intend to clean. Remove (and ideally find homes for) any items that don’t need to be on a surface, and which might hinder the cleaning process. Think of this as the ideal opportunity to get rid of things you no longer want, streamline your kitchen surfaces, and above all else, make cleaning easier.

Set to work degreasing

Kitchens are often full of grease, especially when you don’t clean cabinets, countertops and backsplashes on a daily basis (which let’s face it, nobody has the time to do!). Grab your favorite degreasing agent, or make a solution of water and white vinegar, and do your best to eliminate grease from any area upon which it has built up on.

Give your appliances a deep clean

Unfortunately, it’s usually the case that kitchen appliances frequently used, require more than a mere wipe down with a damp cloth. To clean them thoroughly, remove everything that it’s possible to (such as shelves and drawers from your fridge, and grill racks from ovens), and give them a soak in hot, soapy water, before following up with a good scrub.

Get your sink and faucets hygienically clean

Faucets are frequently touched, sinks have to deal with all manner of food waste being disposed of in them, and garbage disposals can get really stinky. Pay close attention to these three items in your kitchen, and it will begin looking and smelling cleaner in no time. Make sure that when dealing with these, that you use products and solutions with sanitizing capacities.

End with the floors

You might not eat your dinner off them, but it’s still important that your floors are clean. Begin by vacuuming or sweeping up any debris and dirt, before mopping thoroughly, from corner to corner. If your floor is tiled and the grouting is starting to look discolored and grubby, consider using a special cleaning product to restore them to their former glory.

If you don’t love the idea of deep cleaning your kitchen, simply hire a cleaning service to do it instead. You may also not have the time to do it every month, in which case a cleaning service can be an affordable and convenient solution. However you do it, try to do it regularly, and you’ll find it gets easier and quicker each time.
